About us

Our objective is:
To provide a confidential support network for Farsi speaking people and
their families with drug related problems, and to assist them in their efforts to
overcome their addiction. We aim to achieve this by ;Individual counselling
by a team of professionals within our establishment. organising cultural workshops and seminars. Organising therapeutic and artistic activities and group therapy sessions.

Our non-political, non-religious group was formed to address the following needs:
According to the latest report published on: Behboudi.com "Iran has the highest
proportion of hard drug users in the world as cheap opium and refined heroin
flood over the border from Afghanistan. An estimated one in 20 Iranians are
addicted to hard drugs." This percentage is also reflected in the newly arrived
asylum seekers from this country.

Not only are these people at risk of AIDS, but are at risk of being drawn to prostitution and crime to feed their addiction.

Our research and interviews with Iranian specialists on the subject have led us to the following solution:

While in need of clinical treatment, Iranian and other Persian speaking drug addicts are also in need of counselling, group therapy sessions, workshops and seminars in their own language and with reference to their own culture. These workshops and seminars will allow them to get to the root of their problems and solve them with the help of specialists who are familiar with their particular cultural background.

We also believe that being uprooted from their homeland – particularly
as a refugee – can have a negative effect on people’s mental health and
can lead to families being disintegrated. Our research into this matter has
shown that seminars, workshops, and group counselling sessions can
help people with domestic problems to resolve these problems in a peaceful
and non-violent manner.
